|Towards Early Ratification and Implementation of the Minamata Convention|

The Minamata Convention on Mercury was adopted in October 2013, in Minamata/Kumamoto, Japan. The progress concernign the signatures and ratifications of the treaty can be followed at the specially created website - http://www.mercuryconvention.org/Home/tabid/3360/Default.aspx
During this interim period, until the treaty enters into force, the Zero Mercury Working Group has been following developments and participated at all relevant meetings. The work, preparations and all documents ZMWG developed and contributed to the meetings can be found below:

- NRDC has created a website intended as a resource for developing countries, NGOs and other stakeholders to assist in Convention ratification and implementation activities. This website can be found at http://www.nrdc.org/international/ftoxic.asp.
UNEP Treaty Ratification Workshops (2014-2015): A small scale funding agreement was signed by the European Environmental Bureau (on behalf of ZMWG) and UNEP Chemicals branch to assist with a series of treaty ratification workshops. Theses workshops were designed to assist countries in the process towards ratification and early implementation of their obligations under the Convention. More information can be found here.
